Details

  • Guitar: Cortez LP Copy
  • Year Purchased: 1980 (or so)
  • Price Paid: not sure
  • Notes: Late 70s Made in Japan LP Style

In hindsight this was a bit of a downgrade from the Epiphone ET-270 that I traded in. I reckon I was just a little sick of the Epiphone and was gassing for something different. I traded the Epi and a little cash at a very small shop in Midland, MI. The Cortez was brand new and came with a cheap chipboard case.

As far as Les Paul copies goes it was pretty unremarkable. The pickups were single coils stuffed into humbucker covers. It sounded OK and stayed in tune. Japan created some fantastic guitars in this era. This was not one of them. I played this less than a year.

I do have a picture (of a picture) of me hamming it up with the guitar in the basement of my Sanford, MI home in 1980.
